Storage and Handling Recommendations

1.Chemical Stability

carbomer powders are chemically very stable under normal storage conditions. Studies indicate that the chemical properties of the material do not change significantly over a five-year period.

2.Moisture Effect

In terms of physical stability in a powder state, the moisture content (also referred to as loss on drying, or LOD) increases with storage time due to the hygroscopic nature of carbomer. A change in the moisture content of the carbomer does not affect its chemical stability, efficiency of carbomer, but more difficult to disperse and weigh accurately. Containers of Carbomer must be tightly closed and stored out of contact with water.

3.Microbial Growth

NM-Carbomer do not support bacteria, mold or fungus growth in powder form.

4.Dust Precautions

Based on the physical characteristics of carbomer powders, routine safety precautions should be taken to prevent potentially explosive dusting.
